Meteors...

Meteor is a small body which enters the earth’s atmosphere from interplanetary space and becomes incandescent by friction, flashing across the sky and generally ceasing to be visible before it falls to earth.

American astronomer whipel of the Harward observatory discovered the nature, quality, shape and movements of meteors. They are lumps of solid matter and mostly very small in size. They don’t weigh more than a few milligranmes and get burnt to ashes in the upper atmosphere. They vary in size. If our atmosphere would not have offered protection meteors would have hit the earth. Meteors which reach earth from sky are called meteorites. Some times they are disastrous. Once it has killed Wild Animals.

Daily twenty four million visible meteors perish in the earth’s atmosphere. The weight of the substance is only 227 kg. The average mass of all meteorites that fall on earth every year is 365000 kilogrammes. The impact of this weight is negligible. Meteors fall on other planets also.
